Refrigerated ULD (Unit Load Device) containers are specialized containers designed for transporting temperature-sensitive cargo such as perishables, pharmaceuticals, biological specimens, and chemicals that require a controlled environment during air transport. These containers provide cooling and insulation to maintain the required temperature range throughout the transport process. To maintain the required temperature and protect the cargo, these containers are manufactured using advanced composite panels. These panels play a key role in providing insulation, strength and lightweight properties while withstanding the environmental challenges of air transport.

TOPOLOGROUP – Experts in ULD Container Solutions

TOPOLOGROUP customizes refrigerated ULD containers for airlines, providing tailor-made solutions that meet the specific needs of temperature-sensitive cargo. By utilizing advanced materials such as fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP) sandwich panels, insulating foam cores and high-strength composite materials, TOPOLOGROUP ensures that each ULD container is both lightweight and durable without compromising the strength required to withstand the rigors of air travel.

FRP Sandwich Panels for Refrigerated ULD Containers

FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) sandwich panels are increasingly being used in the construction of refrigerated ULD (Unit Load Device) containers due to their combination of lightweight, durability, and thermal insulation properties. Additionally, their corrosion resistance, ease of fabrication, and environmental sustainability make them an excellent material for modern air cargo operations.

  • FRP sandwich panels for ULD containers are made of insulating foam and weather-resistant FRP, combining two highly efficient materials to provide superior thermal performance, strength and durability. The foam core is typically made of polyurethane, extruded polystyrene, etc., and acts as a highly efficient thermal insulation layer, ensuring that the temperature inside the container remains stable, even in extreme environmental conditions.
  • The outer layer of the sandwich panel is made of fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP), which has excellent weather resistance and impact strength. The FRP outer layer is not only resistant to moisture, corrosion and UV radiation, but also provides structural integrity to the panel, allowing it to withstand the physical stress of loading, unloading and transportation.
